Distances and Driving Times

Here's a table showing the various surrounding grocery stores and their distance from the vacant Giant Eagle site in Oakmont.  We've also included an average driving time - despite close proximity, the driving time makes a quick visit to these stores unlikely. Store Town/Area Distance Each Way Driving Time Each Way Giant Eagle Verona 1.3 miles  10 minutes Giant Eagle Express Harmar  1.9 miles 10 minutes Community Market Penn Hills 3.3 miles  12 minutes Community Market Fox Chapel 4.7 miles 13 minutes Giant Eagle Fox Chapel 5.4 miles 15 mintues Super Wal Mart Tarentum 6.2 miles  17 minutes  Whole Foods East Liberty 8.0 miles 25 minutes Trader Joe's East Liberty 8.0 miles 25 minutes McGinnnis Sisters Monroeville 13.2 miles 30 minutes  While we all loved having the convenience of the Giant Eagle within Oakmont, the facility itself was sorely in need of updating and lacked many of the features we've come to expect in our grocery stores.  Gourmet prepared foods, an extensive fresh produce section and a welcoming environment name only a few.  We all have our grades for the surrounding grocery stores - this is totally subjective, so I'll keep personal opinions out of this article and leave this discussion for the forum.
