Oakmont is a boro on the upswing! What better way to improve the quality of life in Oakmont than with a new grocery store? Never has there been a more deserving community...
Some recent milestones for Oakmont include:
-
The 2007 US Open was hosted by Oakmont Country Club for an unprecedented 8th time. The Open could return to Oakmont as soon as 2014. Oakmont Country Club is ranked by Golf Digest as the 5th best golf course in the United States. The US Women's Open is scheduled to be hosted by Oakmont in 2010.
-
An extensive renovation and expansion of the Oakmont Carnegie Library . The expansion of the library more than doubled the usable space available in the library. This additional space has fostered the inclusion of many library sponsored events.
-
The productive reuse of the corner property located at Hulton and Allegheny Avenue. The former Exxon Gas Station site and adjacent Dairy Queen were demolished to make way for a new Walgreens. Duke's Bar, previously located next to the Diary Queen was demolished to make way for a new PNC Bank location. The development of this area included the addition of traffic signals at Hulton Road and Allegheny Avenue as well as Allegheny River Boulevard. This was a borough stipulation for the development of this property.
-
The Edgewater Steel property redevelopment is progressing. This area will add hundreds of homes to the area and will certainly support the right grocery store.
-
A new bridge is on the drawing boards for Oakmont. The Hulton bridge, while merely adequate, is a bottleneck coming into and going out of Oakmont.
