Potential Developers

Ah, the power of the pen (or the email message as the case may be)... Aside from supporting our local Oakmont Borough Council, we can do our part by flooding prospective grocery store developers with correspondence urging them to consider a site in Oakmont for their next expansion.  Following is a list of prospective developers for either the vacant Giant Eagle location or another yet unidentified location within Oakmont Borough. Providing as much information to these propsects as possible will make their job easier - it should certainly help our cause if we are overly accommodating and helpful.  For demographics information, have a look at the Oakmont Wiki.   Also be sure to include a link to this site, www.OakmontGrocery.com , in any correspondence. Giant Eagle The natural fit would be to have a company-owned Giant Eagle store in our community.  They already own the land it appears.  However, since they don't seem to have a clear vision for the vacant site in Oakmont, let's help them formulate one.  As many of you have seen in editorial after editorial, we don't need any additional gas stations in Oakmont.  With 4 gas stations within less than a mile of each other, there appears to be adequate saturation.  Giant Eagle has 154 stores across the region - not including the GetGo gas stations. We should be recommending either a Market District location, or a small "regular" Giant Eagle location (NOT an Express though).  The Market District would be a good fit with our demographics and would be a good draw to Oakmont for surrounding municipalities.  Since the previous location was privately owned and operated, we probably didn't see the full effect of a major corporation's best practices and facility attention.
